A wonderful day of celebration of the sport and the tennis talent
that we have at Upton.
The Junior matches commenced at
10.30 and continued all day with all ages competing from 5-17 years.
Some amazing matches played very enthusiastically and in a very
sportsmanlike fashion.
Well done all of you!
At 10.30 our Captain, Win Boston, held a Drinks
Reception which was very well-attended and a good start to a
very full day of tennis.
At 11am the Senior Matches commenced
followed by Mini Tennis Finals and
continued until after 6pm. The results show that there were some very
closely-fought matches which held everyone's attention
An Excellent Lunch of Salmon, cold
meats, new potatoes and salad, followed by Pavlova and Strawberries and
Cream was served from 12.30 and the Bar opened!
It was estimated that over 100 people attended and the many non-playing
siblings (and grandparents!) were very well-behaved.
As usual Afternoon Tea was served at
4.30 with a huge range of homemade fare, made and served by members of
the committee.
