Spring tennis & Upton Tennis Club Runner's Up at Cheshire LTA Club Awards
Upton Tennis club, Rake Lane, Wirral is well suited for tennis throughout the year, as we have 8 courts of which 4 are astroturf. 3 or our 4 astroturf courts were recently replaced and now bedded in after their second Winter. Our grass courts were officially opened on Saturday 13th April with the club's American Tournament. Astroturf courts are kinder to your knees and feet than your typical hard surfaces. All courts are looked after by our full time groundsman (who also looks after the Tennis Pavilion, Badminton Sports Hall, rooms, bowling green and croquet lawns).
There are several rooms on site of varying sizes, including a sports hall that can all be hired.
Upton Tennis were Runners up at the Cheshire LTA Club awards held at Chester Racecourse on Monday 20th November, 2017. There was strong competition and Upton were on the short list of 7 for the presentation night. To find out more & see pictures please go to this page.

Tennis at Upton tennis club
Saturday's activities start with the junior one hour group lessons, with fees reduced for club members, starting at 10am and go through to 2pm.
These lessons are held on 3 of the 4 courts, so are subject to weather & as always the club's head coach, Mike Schorah, will text parents if the weather is too bad. We also have coaching by Paul Maddock's & Tomas David available.
From 2pm every Saturday, adult members and stronger juniors meet for social tennis on the 4 astroturf courts. And for those wishing to play Saturday morning, we have our top court usually free all morning.
Monday to Friday, the astroturf courts are available to be played on all day and a number of social groups play doubles.
Tuesday evenings we have Wirral Summer League matches from 6pm.
Lack of ability is not a limitation to playing tennis at Upton. However, with the help of the club members and the club coaches you should have a great time being a member of our tennis club & your tennis will improve (we hope). Our membership range is from young children all the way through to members in their 70s and 80s.
